The holiday travel season is almost here! Visiting friends and family is a fun part of the holiday rituals, that is except when your baby is cranky and overtired from lack of sleep. One of the biggest vacation buzz kills is trying to get your baby to sleep in unfamiliar territory. Ask any parent and they'll tell you that travel is responsible for some of the worst sleep disturbances for their babies and toddlers. But with the right attitude and a few tricks and tools, you can get your littles to sleep soundly even if their room is hundreds of miles away. Here, tips for getting baby to sleep while on vacation.

Book a vacation rental home instead of a hotel room
Those days of romantic and cozy hotel rooms where all you needed was a king sized bed and a shower are over. If your travels take you to a destination where you're not staying with friends or family then look into a vacation rental rather than a hotel room. You'll have an extra room to put your baby down to sleep rather than making it lights out for everyone at 7:00 pm. We love the site Kid & Coe for finding stylish kid-friendly vacation rentals around the globe.

Bring their lovey
Don't leave home without your baby's favorite stuffed friend or security blanket. You know how upset your little one gets if their lovey is in the other room--imagine the tears when they discover Mr. Snuggly is in another state! By bringing their most treasured lovey from home, they'll feel much better about their foreign surroundings.

Pack a night light
If your baby or toddler is used to having a night light on in their room, then trust us when we say they're going to notice if it's gone. Plus the fact that a night light will help you navigate a dark room in the middle of the night when they inevitably wake up crying for milk.

Bring your DockATot!
This is a no-brainer. One of the reasons DockATot was created in the first place was to provide parents with a safe and snug portable place to use when traveling. We've heard praise from many jet-setting families that their DockATot has saved their lives during travel.
